About
the
DISCOVER
AMERICA!
Series
DISCOVER AMERICA covers US travel destinations.
Our guides are chosen from current best-selling
print travel guidebooks, and frequently updated with hundreds of live
links to attractions, accommodations and more. The series is continually
expanding, so if you have a favorite destination, let us know!
We cover unusual collections (like the Shoe
Museum in Baltimore), unique hotels, B&Bs, historic inns, restaurants
(try a real Amish eatery in Lancaster instead of the tourist traps) and
must-see destinations such as the Barnes Collection outside Philadelphia
and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, science museums and natural science
museums (Carnegie has some great ones in Pittsburgh), historical sites
and homes, nightlife and much more by region and city.
We also offer all of the above on beautiful and
interesting regions that traditional guidebooks (print or electronic)
don’t cover—DISCOVER DAY TRIPS FROM PHILADELPHIA explores three counties
and let’s you in on great parks, shopping, restaurants, museums (how
about Fonthill--an eccentric collector’s castle built entirely from
poured concrete?) and hundreds of other fascinating things to see and do
(kids wont’ be able to resist the Crayola Museum).

Inside the urban areas and out in the
countryside, there’s plenty of information on the great outdoors: parks,
camping, and active recreation such as snowmobiling, snowshoe and hiking
trails, cycle routes, white-water rafting and much more.
The guides feature exclusive suggested
itineraries and many offer driving, walking, and cycling tours in every
region You’ll see popular and “off-the-beaten path” destinations reviewed
by internationally published travel writers who visit each site. Though
we don’t generally review chain hotels and eateries, we often list links for
those hotels in each guide.
Comprehensive guides in free Adobe Acrobat
Reader PDF format (also available for Palm OS, Symbian OS and Pocket PC)
cover local history AND give a real “feel” for the area – ideal
whether you’re in the area for a short time on business, planning to
relocate, travel on holiday, or seek real estate for vacation or
retirement.
